Before forming his own firm in 1985, Don Slaughter was a tax partner with the law firm of Ball, Hunt, Brown and Baerwitz in Long Beach, California. With over thirty years of experience, he advises individual and business clients in the areas of taxation, business transactions and estate planning. Don emphasizes a practical, cost-effective solution-based approach to his practice. Don is certified by the California State Bar as a specialist in taxation.

Prior to joining his brother to form the firm in 1986, Jim Slaughter worked as in-house legal counsel with General Electric Company. While at G.E., he was first assigned to the Office of General Counsel in Fairfield, Connecticut, then moved to Washington D.C. to work in government relations. He also was an associate counsel with GE's Lighting Division in Cleveland, Ohio, where he advised business unit clients in labor, employment, transactional, and trade regulation issues. He currently counsels clients in business transactions and provides general counsel services to several privately held companies. He speaks fluent Spanish and not-so-fluent Portuguese and French. Jim serves as the vice chair of the Board of Directors of the Saint Joseph Ballet, a non-profit organization that teaches dance to underprivileged youth in Santa Ana.
